Many a bassists routinely switch between the four and five-stringed basses depending on the needs of their current repertoire, more often than their guitar-playing colleagues who tend to either adjust their repertoire to the instrument or vice versa. One of the bass players who swap between the four and five-string basses is Megadeth`s legend David Ellefson. This is reflected in his signature series in Jackson catalog. New 2016 models come in both four and five-string versions. The luxurious USA Signature David Ellefson Concert Bass CB V is one of two extended range models (the other one is in the X series). USA Signature David Ellefson Concert Bass CB V starts off with a well-known alder/maple base. Alder wings are glued onto the one-piece neck to form the chassis. The construction is completed with a 21-fret fingerboard made of ebony (jumbo frets, sharkfin inlays, 1.75" graphite nut). Following the recipe used for the four-string version, this extended range beast uses EMG`s 40DC humbuckers (four-string model has 35DC pickups). Master volume, balance and a three-band EQ comprise the controls. Five-saddled Hi Mass bridge and Hipshot tuners complete the specs list.
