HAGSTROM ULTRA SWEDE REVIEW

Ultra Swede by Hagstrom Write a review

Electric Guitar by 'Hagstrom'

Hagstrom's Ultra Swede is fairly good guitar. Not a brilliant one, but Ultra Swede will serve you until you decide it's time to go for a bit more expensive guitar. You will not go wrong if you go ahead with Ultra Swede.

Ultra Swede features:
Basswood with Maple Top body
UltraLux Maple Set Neck
Resinator with Abalone and Pearl Shell Inlays fretboard
1 die cast tuners hagstrom 15
pickups: 2x Hagstrom Custom 58 Humbuckers
1x Volume / 1x Tone / Mini-Toggle Coil Tap Switch
“Golden Pick”TM rating: 5.9 out of 10

Some say that the average is golden, and maybe that is true for Hagstrom's Ultra Swede as well. There are musicians who would like to see more features on Ultra Swede, but Hagstrom felt that Ultra Swede provides enough features for a given price and the market that Hagstrom shoots for. Perhaps there are better equipped guitars then this one, but Ultra Swede will deliver for what it's built for.

You can plug this baby into a toaster and, God knows, maybe it would sound as great as it does with any other amp. Seriously, Hagstrom made a Ultra Swede, a terrific sounding instrument that deserves all the praise it can get. There is simply no need to change anything stock-provided parts built into this axe, as it sounds professional all the way. Hagstrom's Ultra Swede is a over the top sounding instrument.

Though it could be better, action of Hagstrom's Ultra Swede is not that bad at all. It may lose tuning when mistreated, but it's easily retuned in tune in no time. You won't be put down while playing by Ultra Swede's neck. Guitar does feel a bit cheaper, but it will last you a long time if you handle it with care each instrument should be getting anyhow.

Some might say that Hagstrom didn't go all the way in providing a reliable and durable instrument, but Ultra Swede isn't that bad. It will serve you well most of times, though you should be wary and have backups in situations where you feel Ultra Swede might let you down, such as gigs and studio sessions.

OVERALL RATING:
(8 out of 10)
Features:
(8 out of 10)
One tone, one volume, coil tap and one selector switch.Very simple with few extra features.
Quality:
(8 out of 10)
The quality is easily compared to any fender or gibson standard models. Finish is awesome. Tuners are good, pups sound great, tone adjustment too touchy.I love the coil tap.I've owned it for a year and have never had any problems.I bought it at my local shop so they set it up and changed strings so I don't know what it was like out of the box.
Value:
(10 out of 10)
I've owned a few Fender american Strats and have played several of my friends Gibson LP's. This guitar is just as good as any of those.Hagstrom Ultra Swede is probably the best value for under 500 dollars.
Overall the guitar is very good but there are a few things like the tone pot, volume and tone knobs have tarnished all ready after just one year. The feel, balance and sound is still very good.If you don't 1500 dollars to spend on a guitar then this one of your best bets. It can produce a large variety of tones so it does take a while to dial it in at first.
