A total of seven models is to be unveiled at Ibanez booth at this winter`s NAMM. Two of them are signature models, while the rest belong to the standard series of the Hollow Body segment.
With an article on the new Ibanez hollow-bodies, we`ll wrap a three-part review of the Ibanez electric guitar segment novelties for the winter NAMM 2015. With the acoustics and bass updates still unknown, this series on new Ibanez models is sure to spawn a few more sequels. On the other hand, a set of seven models is being added to already huge roster of the hollow and semi-hollow guitars. Two of them are signatures – EKM10T (new Eric Krasno model) and JSM10 (John Scofield series update). Five models introduced into the standard series are: AM93 (Artcore Expressionist), SJ300 (new SJ series), SS300 (also new SS line), AM205 (Artstar Prestige) and AG95 (Artcore Expressionist).
Review section of this article kicks off with the smooth and gorgeous Ibanez EKM10T, new Eric Krasno model. This gorgeous double-cut rocks a carved top with sophisticated white binding around the edges, roller/vibrato bar bridge, Super `58 humbuckers anda set in neck with a bound 22-fret fingerboard on the top. Gold-plated hardware, abalone inlays and die-cast tuners round off the core specs list. For a detailed review, check the EKM10T detail page on our site, or the official Ibanez web page.
We`re continuing with the second of two hollow-body signatures introduced for this year`s NAMM, the cool and laid back Ibanez JSM10. John Scofield is a long time member of the Signature Artist segment and JSM10 is, quite possibly, the series finest entry. Flame maple body, set in sapele neck, two-piece hardtail bridge unit, two Ibanez Super `58 humbuckers and a 22-fret ebony fingerboard can be found on this gem. For a detailed review, check the JSM10 detail page on our site, or the official Ibanez web page.
The first of five standard hollow-bodies is the vintage-styled Ibanez AM205. As opposed to the series dominant all-maple body construction, this ES-esque archtop features the all-mahogany alternative. Clad in Dark Brown Sunburst, sound board of this beautiful six-string is fit with a simple two-piece bridge and dual Super `58 humbuckers. Set mahogany neck, gold plated tuners on the vintage headstock and 22-fret ebony fingerboard complete the neck section. For a detailed review, check the AM205 detail page on our site, or the official Ibanez web page.
Next in line is the Ibanez SJ300, an old school jazz box with single-cut body, passive electronics and short 24-3/4” scale. Flamed maple back and sides are topped with a carved sound board made of spruce, while the five-piece neck rocks the maple/walnut combo. Almost mandatory Super `58 pickups, 20-fret ebony fingerboard and gold-plated tuners are also found on this standard-scaled (24-3/4”) archtop. For a detailed review, check the SJ300 detail page on our site, or the official Ibanez web page.
Ibanez SS300 follows immediately after the only SJ series model. It bears a strong resemblance to the SS, though it has a slightly smaller body frame and something very close to the Venetian cutaway. Vintage Bridge unit, Super `58s, and a 20-fret ebony fingerboard over the maple/walnut neck can also be found in the specs list. For a detailed review, check the SS300 detail page on our site, or the official Ibanez web page.
Penultimate spot in the review section is reserved for the Ibanez AM93, the 2015 incarnation of this smart jazzer/rocker, to be exact. Entire body is made of quilted maple, while the set in and very fast neck is made of mahogany and maple. Two-piece top-load bridge, Super`58s with gold-plated covers and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard allow this six-string to swim well in blues, jazz and rock waters. For a detailed review, check the AM93 detail page on our site, or the official Ibanez web page.
Review section of this article ends with the marvelous Ibanez AG95. 2015 version will officially be unveiled at the NAMM, along with the rest of the Ibanez updates. It comes with a vintage single-cut body made entirely of bubinga, mahogany/maple neck, Super `58 humbuckers, 22-fret fingerboard and gold-plated hardware. For a detailed review, check the AG95 detail page on our site, or the official Ibanez web page.
