Gibdon`s USA division unveils a brand new range of bass guitars which starts with Midtown Standard Bass. Currently, it`s the only model in the series with more models expected down the road. With price tag of $1,999 it belongs among the moderately affordable Gibsons. For that kind of money player gets it all a semi-hollow four-stringer has to offer. Magnificent tone and playability are accompanied by master craftsmanship and beautiful vintage-styled looks. Among four color options in which Midtown Standard is available, it`s hard to decide which one is the best, for Midtown`s hot curves look good in every dress. This four-stringer gives the vibe as though it has been there since ever and offers reliability that guarantees supreme tone for years and years to come.
Gibson Midtown Standard Bass is a semi-hollow bodied four-stringer and it features double cutaway design made in he same fashion as on smaller six-stringed models released previously. Mahogany is used for back and side panels, while maple sits on the top. Maple counters mahogany`s low end with strong mid range without compromising it. Also, it looks very beautiful as a top wood. Bridge section has a three-point adjustable bridge with four saddles and chrome plating, which is a pretty much standard installment in Gibson`s catalog. TB active humbuckers are installed in front of the bridge, with bridge pickup being a minibucker actually, while the neck position rocks a full-sized hum. Master volume, master tone and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls. Mahogany neck is set with mortise & tenon joint and topped with a baked maple fingerboard. 20 frets, dot inlays, 12" radius and 1.60" wide corian nut are featured on the fingerboard. 34" scale, nitrocellulose finish and shamrock-styled Grover tuners wrap the story up.
