With five models, the new Contemporary series aims at young players as well as experienced axemen who`d like a Tele or Strat with a more modern flavor.
Back in the day, Fender was on the cutting edge of guitar design and technology with its solid-bodied, mass-production guitars. With the appearance of Telecaster, Stratocaster, and Precision, the music world changed forever and Leo Fender`s innovations ushered in a new age. More than sixty years later, Fender`s main models are as relevant as they were in the mid-20th century, with the difference being that they`re now considered classics and examples of retro and vintage. To shake things up and reconnect with the young players, Fender`s come up with the Contemporary series. The series consists of five models and will be sold through Squier brand. The lineup consists of three Strats and two Teles, with no four-stringers in sight. Squier pickups, 22-fret fingerboards, modern C-shaped necks, 12-inch fingerboard radius across the table, and streamlined controls are the main characteristics of the new Contemporaries. Also, all models have painted headstocks. The models of the initial lineup are: Contemporary Stratocaster HSS, Contemporary Telecaster HH Left-Handed, Contemporary Stratocaster HH, Contemporary Active Stratocaster HH, and Contemporary Telecaster HH.
Squier Contemporary Stratocaster HSS is the only model with single-coil pickups, as well as the only one with a blue color option. It rocks a poplar body, modern maple neck, passive electronics, and modern styling.
