For this year`s edition of the summer NAMM, Epiphone has prepared four models, all electriic. Three Les Pauls and one Century model comprise the Epiphone lineup.
Though not as big as its winter counterpart, summer NAMM is an important event. An event which might be a good indicator to where the brands are going and how they`re fairing six months after (and before) the main event. This year, Epiphone rides out with a quartet of new models. Three of them are from Les Paul range, while the fourth one belongs to the Archtop series. Limited Edition Inspired by 1955 Les Paul Custom Outfit ($799), Les Paul Special VE ($149) and Les Paul Traditional PRO-II ($499) are LP models. Inspired by 1966 Century ($599) is the only Archtop model.
Epiphone Limited Edition Inspired by 1955 Les Paul Custom Outfit is the most expensive of the four models and is the first one to be reviewed. Marvelous Ebony outfit with gold-plated hardware and aged binding give this LP an aura of exclusivity. All mahogany body and neck, Gibson pickups and deluxe case are also there. Epiphone Inspired by 1966 Century is the only hollow-bodied guitar in this review. It comes with a non-cutaway, thinline body made of laminated maple. Lone Epiphone P-90 sits in the neck position. Aged Gloss Vintage Sunburst and Aged Gloss Cherry options are available. For more info and a full specs list, check the Century detail page on our site or visit Epiphone Guitars official web page.
Epiphone Les Paul Special VE is a beginner guitar. It comes with a flat-top poplar body, passive Epiphone electronics, stock Epiphone hardware and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. A wide color palette is included, to make this basic LP more attractive to younger players. Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro-II is an intermediate model, inspired by some of the finest LP traditional and hallmark features. All-mahogany body, set-in mahogany neck, dual humbucker pickups and 22-fret fingerboard are all there. Coil-splitting ability and Grover tuners add a modern touch to this great LP.
