Vintage Sunburst
J-45 ws introduced back in the 1940`s to replace the J-35 model. It cost $45 and was advertised as "The Workhorse Guitar" (due to understated styling). The J-45 changed Gibson`s approach to the dreadnought-shaped guitars, as its simple approach became an almost instant standard among other brands.
J-45 Standard 2018 relies heavily on the original`s legacy, following the visual cues down to the T. It even includes Vintage Sunburst (gloss finish, single-circle rosette, teardrop pickguard) as the only color option. "The Workhorse" tag is still J-45`s unofficial name.
Main construction features include solid mahogany back & sides, solid Sitka spruce top, rounded mahogany neck, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard (dot inlays, 1.725" TUSQ nut, 24.75" scale), rosewood bridge, L.R. Baggs electronics, and Grover tuners.
