Guild is one of the standard-setting brands in acoustic guitar industry. Almost sixty years of quality and tradition have put them in that selected circle GSR line of guitars is Guild Selected Range and it deals with supreme Guild acoustics. For the fall of 2012 Guild has prepared a dreadnought named GSR D-40 in a limited series. It comes in black with nitrocellulose finish, Guild dubbed it "Noir" It is combined with outer binding made of ivoroid, black pickguard and abalone rosette. Construction-wise, this model has non-cutaway dreadnought body made of mahogany back and sides with spruce sound board. All tone woods are solid on this one. Bracing is done with Adirondack red spruce. Bridge section on this model includes a regular belly-shaped bridge made of ebony. Construction-wise, this bridge features bone saddle and "Parisan Eye" bridge pins made of bone. Within the bridge Guild installs a piezo pickup, which is accompanied by a side-mounted preamp with microphone installed in the body cavity. Neck is made of mahogany and walnut. Two pieces of mahogany are on the outside, while the walnut piece is in the middle. This three-piece neck comes with a 14th fret dovetail joint and ivoroid binding. Rosewood fingerboard is made with a standard set of 20 frets. Mother-of-Pearl block inlays with custom 12th fret inlay, 1-11/16" wide bone nut and 12" radius complete the fingerboard. Hardware is plated in gold on this dreadnought and scale measures 25-5/8" in length.
