For the first time in history, PRS catalog is featuring a line of affordable acoustic guitars. Currently, the lineup consists of three models, two standard models and SE Alex Lifeson signature model. SE Alex Lifeson is a budget variant of the luxurious Private Stock Alex Lifeson model. With the price tag set around $700, SE Alex Lifeson had to make some compromises, but the end result is more than satisfying. Dao back and sides and spruce sound board give a warm tone with a deep and well defined bass. Also, the craftsmanship and finish are on a surprisingly high level. SE Alex Lifeson is a single-cut Angelus guitar with thinline profile and a short 25-1/4" scale (the same as the Private stock model). Neck is made of mahogany and features a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. The fingerboard plays like a dream and features the gorgeous bird inlays. SE Series` standard electronics unit is featured on this model as well. It includes an under-saddle pickup and volume and tone knobs (controls are accessible through the sound hole). The standard rosewood bridge and die-cast tuners round off the amazing specs list.
