NS1 is a semi-hollow bodied acoustic-electric guitar with MIDI synth access. It comes with a single cutaway body made of chambered mahogany back and flamed maple top. Besides flame maple, other top covers, such as quilt maple and koa are available. The top features no sound holes, whatsoever. In the bridge section, NS1 features a classical bridge. Graphtech Hexaphonic pickup is installed underneath the top and it comes with piezo controls, MIDI output, controls and 1/4" piezo output. This model, as well as other MIDI access guitars from Carvin can be plugged into a computer or controlled with a MIDI controller. Neck on this model is made of mahogany and it features set neck. Ebony fingerboard comes with 21 medium jumbo frets, no position inlays and 1.88" wide string nut.
