AVD9 is one of six models of the newly established Artwood Vintage Thermo Aged series. Thermo Aged series is the newest spin-off of the acclaimed Artwood Vintage range, dealing with traditional guitars in a completely new and modern way. The Thermo aging process includes heating the wood in vacuum to make it dry, age and decompose resin faster than usual, resulting in new guitars which sound like forty, fifty, sixty years old. Dreadnought, grand concert and parlor models populate the series roster, featuring non-cutaway bodies, natural or Brown Violin color schemes and chrome-plated hardware ("10" models have Grover hardware, while "9s" have the stock ibanez hardware). AVD9 kicks off with a non-cutaway dreadnought body, with black binding and flat sound board. Back and sides are made of mahogany, while the top is made of solid spruce. The top is the only part of the body that`s been subjected to the whole Thermo Aging process. The neck on this model is made of mahogany, it has the standard soft-V profile in the back and a rosewood fingerboard on top (20 frets, 1.69" bone nut, 15.75" radius). Other major features include: rosewood bridge with compensated saddle, X bracing and die-cast tuners.
