Models labeled with 16 and 17 are intermediate level models in the Classic series. This line deals with both acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars and the most prominent body shapes are dreadnought and orchestra. RD-16 comes with non-cutaway dreadnought body with fully acoustic construction. This model is made of mahogany, spruce and rosewood. Mahogany is used for the back and side panels of the body, as well as for the neck. On the body, it is paired with spruce-made sound board and on the neck, it`s topped with a rosewood fingerboard. Body is bound in black and has a black pickguard. Neck is equipped with C contour and fingerboard has 20 frets with 1-11/16" bone nut. Hardware installed on this model is plated in chrome.
