Edge Pro is the top segment of the Edge series of electric basses. Edge, similar to the Ibanes SR series, has several sections and tiers and Pro is the top one. It corresponds to the SR Premium and Prestige tiers in Ibanez catalog (SR series has been chosen for the comparison for the similarities in design, construction and targeted population). Edge Pro 5 is the series only five-string model and it features a solid, double-cut body with neck-through construction. Wings of the body are made of basswood base and have flamed maple top. Five-saddled bridge on the top is plated in gold and the pickups in the front are installed in the H/H pattern. Maple and walnut neck is topped with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard.

Had this for a few years and also had the Ibanez BTB575 for a direct one to one comparison. The BTB575 was gorgeous looking and sounding, but the fingerboard was brutally WIDE. So I sold it and kept the Edge Pro 5. This bass has a quiet preamp (only 9v not 18v like the BTB575) the fretwork is comparable (smallish frets) But the neck was narrower but a bit less slim than the 575. The EMG HZ pickups are fine and require no upgrade. My only two complaints - Quilt Maple matching on the top is sloppy (not bad but not pro - the BTB575 has immaculate woodwork) and the Monorail bridge pieces are a bit chintzy. IMPOSSIBLE to beat this bass for the money. I paid $475 for new old stock from a small store down south that probably could not move a high end piece like this. You really need to spend over a grand to beat it. Basswood body is a plus in my book(bad back)) so I prefer lighter basses. Have a basswood P Bass as well.
