RB series is made up of carefully selected models and is oriented towards the players who need the ultimate in terms of playability and tonal versatility. Mainly, the seven-piece lineup is made up of six and five-string models, there are only two four-strings. RB-1004SM is one of two four-stringers in the new 2016 lineup. It is a solid-bodied bass with bolt-on construction, super deep cutaway, passive/active electronics and classic RB series styling. See Thru Red is the only color option available for this model. RB-1004SM rocks a solid and double-cut body made of swamp ash back and spalted maple top. There is no binding around the top, nor is there a pickguard on the top (series traditions). THe neck is made of five pieces of maple and walnut (three strips of maple and two strips of walnut) and rocks a classic C contour in the back. It is topped with a 22-fret maple fingerboard with an incomplete 22nd fret and oval abalone inlays. Passive Aguilar pickups are featured in the J/P configuration, with 4J HC in the bridge and 4P in the neck position. Volume, balance and the active 2-band EQ comprise the controls. Hardtail Gotoh bridge and Grover tuners wrap the list of major features.
