SR series is something of a four and five-stringed RG series in terms of popularity and philosophy. Both series offer modern double-cut instruments with modern tone, predominantly passive electronics (though active models comprise a significant percentage of the lineups of these series), and affordability. Standard RG and SR series, as well as both series Premium branches, offer affordable and attainable instruments with high quality tone and build. SR Premium series is very popular in the western world, mainly due to the fantastic ratio of price and quality and is considered a very good and sound choice for players who are looking to improve both their tone and quality of playing. SR1605 comes with a solid and double-cut body made of mahogany back and poplar top. It is available only in Natural Flat finish with gold-plated hardware. On the top, there is a five-saddled monorail bridge with completely independent saddles. In the front, Ibanez installs a pair of super strong Nordstrom single-coils with an elaborate controls unit. Neck on this model is made of five pieces of wenge and bubinga and it features the Atlas contour in the back. Rosewood fingerboard on the top is fit with 24 medium-sized frets and oval abalone inlays.
