4001 model has been introduced back in 1961 as Rickenbacker`s response to the growing electric bass market. Precision Bass dominated the scene throughout the 1950s and early 1960s saw the emergence of the Thunderbird Bass, SG (EB) Bass, Jazz Bass and Rickenbacker`s 4001. 4001 had the most radical design and a super strong tone, which made it an instant favorite of the hard rock musicians. By the early 1980s, Rickenbacker had replaced the trusty old 4001 with the 4003 model. In recent years, upon the popular request, Rickenbacker has re-introduced the 4001. C64 is one of the variants of the revamped legend. It comes with a classic 4001 body made of maple wings glued onto the maple neck. Four-saddled Rickenbacker bridge is fronted with a pair of humbuckers (minibucker is in the neck position) and the maple neck is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard.
