Gene Simmons, one of the cult personae and key figures in history of rock`n`roll is known as a bass player and vocalist for the band KISS. But, today, through Cort Guitars Gene Simmons signature guitar is being represented. Just in time for NAMM 2012, the GS Guitar Axe-2 hits the stage. GS starts off with a solid, double cutaway body made of basswood. The shape of the guitar follows the lines of Gene`s legendary Axe Bass together with grey-black paint job. This black-grey color is the only available for this model. The bridge section is simple, yet very effective and consists of tune-o-matic bridge with six string saddles and string-through construction. The bridge is plated in chrome. Pickups on GS Axe-2 are two Mighty Mite passive humbuckers. They are controlled through master volume, master tone and a three-way toggle switch. The neck on this model has a far more common shape than the body, it is made of maple and connecter to the body with a bolt-on joint. The fingerboard is made of rosewood and equipped with 24 large frets with a set of dot position inlays. Die-cast tuners, 25-1/2" scale and chrome plated hardware complete the spec.
