Dave Mustaine Fear VMNT guitar is one of the Flying Vs with special graphics featured on top of the body. This one`s theme is fear. Fear is a recurring theme in Megadeth lyrics, various types and aspects of fear are described in Megadeth songs. Thus, Dave and Dean Guitars have decided to dedicate this guitar to fear. It`s painted across the top and finished in high gloss. Body beneath it is solid and made of mahogany. It`s paired with a standard set in mahogany neck. Neck features D contour in the back. Also, back of the neck is finished in high gloss. On top of the neck, Dean installs a 24-fret fingerboard made of ebony. Pickups on this model are Seymour Duncan Dave Mustaine Live Wire active humbuckers.

I just got to play one. I think I can sum it up in one word, crap. Notice how the picture of the guitar doesn't have a tailpiece? The one I have in my hands has a tailpiece, it's chrome. The pickups are black chrome and the hardware is black as specified by the Dean website. Apparently the quality control at Dean is as good as their graphics department. Although you can't blame the QC guys or graphics guys themselves because they've been ordered to cut corners by their management I'm sure. Plus, do you really want to pay around $1,000 for a guitar haphazardly built in Indonesia?
