Wildkat is, next to Dot, Riviera, Casino, Sheraton and others, a part of Epiphone`s rich archtop tradition for back in the days, Epiphone was Gibson`s greatest rival in that field. Modern Epiphone archtop models are, however, more of an affordable alternative to the high end Gibson USA/Memphis/Custom models.
Wildkat is a single-cut and semi-hollow guitar reminiscent of the big 1950s archtops. It comes with mahogany back and sides and flamed maple top. Top is decorated with creme binding and traditional "f" holes. Set-in mahogany neck rocks the slim taper D profile and is topped with a standard 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
Epiphone`s own P90 Dogear pickups are featured in bridge and neck positions and have a pretty much Gretsch-like controls unit. Tune-o-matic bridge with Bigsby tail and Grover tuners complete the specs list.
