ESP Eclipse 40th is the only 40th anniversary model with ESP logo (other three are made under the LTD flag) and also the only one with two color, hardware and electronics options. Eclipse 40th kicks the specs list off with a solid and single-cut body made of mahogany back and gorgeous flamed maple top. Top is traditionally carved and bound in sophisticated binding. Both options (Tiger Eye and See Thru Black Satin) feature the discreet creme binding around the top, as well as fingerboard. Tiger Eye option also has gold-plated hardware (including the pickup covers), while the black variant comes with black chrome hardware. But, the biggest difference, the one that separates these two definitely, is the choice of pickups. See Thru Black Satin has an EMG Metalworks 57/66 set with polished covers, while the Tiger Eye comes with passive Seymour Duncan APH humbuckers. Both variants come with two volume controls, one tone knob and a three-way toggle pickup switch. Set thru mahogany neck is fast and slim on both models and is topped with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard. Schaller`s straplocks and Gotoh`s locking tuners on bound headstock wrap up the ESP Eclipse 40th`s story.
