This one, KH-DC is based upon the EC series models, but has a double cutaway, instead of a single one. This model was, along with other ESP novelties, exhibited at ESP booth at NAMM 2012. KH-DC starts off with a solid, double cutaway body made of mahogany back and flamed maple top. the carved top is bound in multiple layers of creme binding and has an elevated, white pickguard. See thru black cherry with glossy finish is the only color option available for this model. In the bridge department, Tonepros tune-o-matic bridge is paired with a stoptail bar. Both of them are plated in gold. Pickups for KH-DC are EMG81 active humbucker in the bridge and EMG60, also active humbucker in the neck position. To control and manipulate them, player has split volume controls, master tone and a three-way toggle switch. Neck on this Kirk Hammett model is made of mahogany and equipped with thin U contour and st-in joint. The fingerboard is made of rosewood with a set of 22 extra jumbo frets, flag position inlays and 1.6" wide bone string nut. 25-1/2" sale, Sperzel locking tuners and gold plated hardware complete the specs.
