Kirk Hammett has one of the most colorful and interesting signature lines in ESP/LTD catalog. His fondness of all things horror and macabre shines through special signature models such as White Zombie, Ouija, Mummy and others. The most recent addition of the "other kind" is KH-Nosferatu, a simple metal machine with a vintage Nosferatu-themed custom paint job. KN-Nosferatu is based upon the classic KH (M series) double-cut concept, and stripped off of all non-essential features. The body is solid, double-cut and made entirely of alder, while the neck is a slim three-piece made of maple (opposed to James`s guitars which usually feature mahogany/mahogany combo). Rosewood fingerboard with 24 frets is also one of the standard KH features (extra jumbo frets, customized inlays, 1.65" locking nut). Nosferatu is a single-pickup guitar, mainly due to two facts - it is a non-expensive guitar and it feature an elaborate paint job. The pickup is EMG 81 (Kirk`s favorite), the powerhouse of tone and sustain and the definitive heavy metal pickup. Master volume knob is the only control it features. A licensed Floyd Rose bridge, painted headstock with matching Nosferatu theme and a set of LTD tuners complete this simple, yet exciting metal machine.
