While the Relic models from Fender, Squier and Fender Custom Shop aim at moderately worn and played look, Heavy Relic models are heavily aged and played in order to achieve the most faithful look of an actually old guitar surviving well into the 21st century. Paint is no more chipped and worn, on Heavy Relic models, big parts of paint are missing. Also, hardware is heavily aged. But, underneath the worn and beaten looks, these guitars have modern construction and are as reliable as every other Fender. Limited 1963 Heavy Relic Telecaster Custom is solid, single-cut and made of alder. Vintage Tele bridge and Abby single-coil pickups are installed on the top. Classic Tele pickguard is also there. Maple neck is worn and topped with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard.
