Gibson Memphis is releasing two ES-175 models for 2016 NAMM. This is the more expensive one and the fully hollow one (ES-175 Figured model is semi-hollow). 2016 1959 ES-175D comes in at $5,749 and offers one of the most faithful recreations of the 1959 ES-175 ever made. From the tailpiece anchor and all the way up to the headstock, this beauty is filled with period-correct features and appointments. For starters, the body of 2016 1959 ES-175D is a picture-perfect recreation of 1959 ES-175`s body. It is made of three-ply maple/poplar/maple laminates (back, sides and top are all made of them). Vintage Burst and Natural options with creme binding, nickel hardware and dual "f" holes are available for this model. Mahogany neck is a one-piece, featuring a standard 14th fret joint and rounded C profile. 20-fret rosewood fingerboard is found on its top. It has split parallelogram inlays, 1-11/16" bone nut and 12" radius. HMS humbuckers featured on this model are historically accurate recreations of the legendary PAF humbuckers from the late `50s. They even have unbalanced coils for that airy `50s tone. ABR-1 bridge with trapezoid tailpiece and vintage Keystone tuners complete the specs list.
