Moderne is the lost third sibling of the cult Explorer and Flying V. They were all introduced together back in 1957 and it took around 20 years for Explorer and V to break the ice, while the Moderne never got it`s chance. Design-wise, Moderne was, and still is, somewhere between the V and Explorer, having the front of the Explorer and the tail similar to the V. But, for the fall and winter of 2013, Gibson USA and Zakk Wylde have prepared the Zakk Wylde Moderne Of Doom for us. It comes with a solid and single-cut body made of mahogany back and maple top. Elegant binding surrounds the flat top, which is painted in pinstripe black and white pattern, similar to Zakk`s signature bull`s eye graphic. Entire body, as well as the back of the neck, is finished in nitrocellulose gloss. On the top, there is a six-saddled Floyd Rose trem bridge with a pair of mighty EMGs in the front. 81 is in the bridge and 85 in the neck. Maple neck is bolted to the body and it`s topped with a 22-fret fingerboard made of richlite. 22 medium jumbo frets, 24-3/4" scale and Grover tuners complete the specs list. The MSRP for this model is set at $2,082.
