Chet Atkins, one of the greatest legends of Nashville and, also one of the main proponents of the Nashville sound in country music has a very special place in Gretsch catalog. Especially, as his use of the Gretsch models during his career brought Gretsch into prominence on the electric guitar market. In 2015, some decade and a half after his death, Mr. Guitar`s tribute model are still being issued on a regular basis by Gretsch. As all models before, 2015 version of the cult G6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body is placed within the Professional Collection series. It comes with a completely hollow and single-cut Nashville body, classic neck construction and vintage electronics. Hardware and decorations are done in a vintage fashion, as well. Entire body of this exclusive six-string is made of laminated maple (including back, sides and the top), as is the set in neck. Rosewood-based Adjust-o-Matic bridge is plated in gold (as is the rest of the hardware) and backed by a vibrato bar attached to a trapezoid tailpiece. Pair of High Sensitive Filter`Tron pickups is installed with the classic Gretsch controls unit. Mentioned maple neck is topped with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard with neo-classical Thumbnail inlays and a 1-11/16" synthetic bone nut. Gold-plated Grover tuners on the headstock wrap up the major specs list. G6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body is available only in Cadillac Green with polyurethane finish.
