Made with the beginners in mind, GIO range of the Ibanez catalog focuses on affordability, versatility and quality for money ratio. Among the brightest examples of GIO series comes for the 2015 NAMM and it`s name is GRG121DX. It is a solid-bodied guitar with a bolted neck and Ibanez hardware based on the RG Fixed series models. Double-cut body of this model is flat on top and is made of mahogany in it`s entirety (which is a fairly rare feat in the GIO segment). Thanks to the mahogany body and the set of mighty IBZ6 humbuckers (passive/ceramic pickups), GRG121DX has a surprisingly serious tone to offer. Tuning and intonation are kept in line by the regular six-saddled hardtail bridge on one and a set of Ibanez die-cast tuners on the other side of the 25-1/2" scale. Maple neck is made with the standard GRG profile in the back and also provides a good weight balance for the mahogany body, making sure the guitar stays in place when played standing up. GRG contour is fast, slim and very playable. 24 jumbo frets with sharktooth inlays, graphite nut and white binding comprise the regular rosewood fingerboard. All in all, mahogany/maple construction, deep cutaway, famous Ibanez playability, dual-humbucker set of pickups and good balance suggest that this model might become one of the best sellers of 2015.
