Rhoads V has been around for over three decades and still looks fresh and vital, as if it came out yesterday. The classic elongated upper horn, recessed lower, 22 frets, dual humbucker pickups, a Floyd Rose bridge and a pointy headstock have always been the hallmarks of the RR design. Also, many a RR models had a small, triangular pickguard on their beveled tops. 2015 catalog updates introduced at NAMM feature only two Rhoads models, the affordable RRXT and the currently reviewed Pro Rhoads RR. The new Pro Rhoads RR comes with a classic asymmetrical body made of mahogany wings and maple neck in the middle. Mandatory beveled edges and the triangular pickguard are there (chrome-plated pickguard, along with the chrome bridge and pickup rings gives a fantastic contrast to the black-clad body). Recessed Floyd Rose bridge is nestled on the top, and its fronted by a pair of mighty Seymour Duncan Distortion Mayhem humbuckers. Master volume, master tone and a three-way toggle pickup switch comprise the controls unit. Fast and sleek maple neck features a 22-fret ebony fingerboard on top (very few RR models have had 24-fret fingerboards). Shark fin inlays, locking nut and the compound 12"-16" radius are featured on the fingerboard.
