2012 is a year in which Schecter redesigned the catalog and introduced dozens of new models. Also, new series were created, securing the brand`s position in the field of electric guitars made for heavy music. Hellraiser series is updated with several novelties, one of which is the guitar this article is dedicated to, the Hellraiser C-8 FR. This beast is now equipped with Floyd Rose double locking tremolo bridge, an option previously unavailable at Schecter. And, for that matter, pretty much nowhere else. Standard Hellraiser appointments are still present on this model. Body features a standard shape with double cutaway and ultra access cutaway. It is made of mahogany for the Black color option, with quilted maple top being added for the Black Cherry. Both mahogany and quilted maple tops on Hellraisers are carved. Binding is traditionally done in abalone and the pickguard is omitted from the specs list. Bridge is, as it`s already been said, a Floyd Rose Double locking tremolo. This 1000 series Floyd Rose is plated in black chrome and paired with a locking nut at the opposite side of the 28" scale on this monster. Pickups section brings a pair of active EMG pickups adapted for the use on eight-stringers. They are called EMG 808 and are controlled with separate volumes, one tone and a three-position blade switch. This pickups setup does not feature the option of coil splitting. Neck on this model is made of three pieces of mahogany and it sports ultra fast contour on the back, as it is the series standard. Neck joint is set-in and it features a backed up heel for easier access to the upper frets. That being combined with ultra access cutaway, results in one of the most comfortable necks out on the market. Truss rod which runs through this neck is made of carbon fibers. Fingerboard on this model is made of rosewood. It features a standard setup of 24 extra jumbo frets with Abalone Gothic Cross inlays on Black Cherry variant and and Gray Pearl Gothic Cross inlays on Black option. Headstock is bound in abalone and it is color-matched with the body. It features four black chrome-plated Grover tuners on each side. This eight-stringer comes with factory tuning of :F#, B, E, A, D, G, B, E. It is still not available in left-handed variant, unlike the majority of other Schecter models.
