T5z Custom First Edition is the first variant of the revolutionary new T5z concept Taylor is introducing for 2014. It comes with a fully hollow 5 body made of top grade sapele back and sides and Hawaiian koa sound board on the top. Sound board is active, thus helping augmenting the tone of this thin hollow-body. Design-wise, this is another classic Taylor electric with single-cut body and set in neck. Besides the marvelous wood and gorgeous vintage styling, T5z boasts fantastic and supremely versatile electronics which open incredible possibilities. There are three pickups on this fantastic six-stringer, one piezo pickup installed under the bridge and two active humbucking pickups (one in the standard bridge position and one concealed in the neck position). These three can be combined, turned on and off and manipulated with tone knobs endlessly. There`s also a Taylor preamp installed on the side of the body. Set in sapele neck is comfortable and a joy to play. On it`s top, there is a 21-fret fingerboard bound in white. Spire inlays, bone nut and standard-sized frets complete the fingerboard. Taylor sets the MSRP for this gorgeous electric/acoustic marvel at $3,798.

Just arrived a few days ago, the guitar is absolutely beautiful! Stunning! I could have cried when I got it. The feel of this guitar is incredibly smooth. The action is effortless. I am not a professional player but this guitar gives off tonal qualities like no other. I have martins takamine among others. First taylor I have ever owned and I would certainly buy another.
