With holiday season approaching, Sweetwater have decided to put lot of the items from their catalog on a discount for easier gear-up.
Some heavy prices are rolling down the hill at Sweetwater this week. Cuts in the price department are always welcome, and in this time of year they have special roll in saving some extra money while allowing the desired gear to be bought. This weeks spotlight goes to Gibson SG Junior '60s.
Gibson junior Series started out in late 1950s with Les Paul Junior and continued with SG Junior in 1960s. The aim of this series is to give players the authentic Gibson playing experience, but for an affordable price. This series is characterized with no nonsense design and high quality parts and craftsmanship. Gibson SG Junior '60s is a tribute to the original SG Junior from the '60s and features one P-90 pickup in the bridge, 22 frets, traditionally slim SG shaped body and a comfortable neck contour.
Gibson SG Junior '60s packs a solid and thin mahogany body into the legendary double cutaway SG shape with beveled edges and glossy finish. It is combined with a mahogany neck. Since being a junior excludes some cosmetic touches and features up scale models have, the top wood is omitted on this one and Gibson decided to go with a flat top and solid color. Lightning bridge makes sure the tuning is always dead on and stable. Pickup department may seem somewhat poor due to only having one single coil pickup, but the dog styled P-90 is like a humbucker packed on a single coil. It`s fat lows and massive sustain promise not to leave the player stranded no matter what the style of music he or she chooses to play. Controls are brought own to basics with a master volume and a master tone knob.
Neck on Gibson SG Junior '60s is a mahogany set with a Slim Taper shape. lean and comfortable, it gives great playing feel. Baked maple fingerboard features 22 frets with dot inlays. Other features include: Nitrocellulose gloss finish, 24-3/4" scale length, 1-11/16" nut width, white button tuners and a pickguard. It comes in Ebony color.
Gibson SG Junior '60s is a champion of it`s price range when it comes to a comparison value for the money. Genuine Gibson tone of the expensive models with stripped down design and mighty P-90 in the bridge are what sets this Junior in the big league.
