Gibson` Custom department is the exclusive segment of the company with a task of preserving the memory of and reviving the finest Gibson models made in the past. A very hard and immensely important task which, when doe by Gibson Custom`s magician luthiers, seems completely effortless. LP models featured in the lineup are: Southern Rock Tribute 1959 Les Paul, CS Les Paul Long Scale, Collector’s Choice™ #18 1960 Les Paul Dutchburst, Joe Bonamassa Skinnerburst `59 Les Paul, Billy F. Gibson Custom Southern Rock Tribute Les Paul is one of the longest awaited tribute models in the Gibson Custom history. It is based on the classic looks and tone of the iconic 1959 LP and features a bit controversial styling. This translates into a solid, single-cut guitar, set in mahogany neck, active Gibson electronics with Custombucker pickups, one-piece fingerboard made of rosewood and traditional mahogany/figured maple body with VOS Reverse Burst color scheme with a red heart in front of the bridge. The MSRP is set at $6,583. For more info, head over to the Southern Rock Tribute detail page on our site, or on Gibson Custom official site.
Gibson Custom CS Les Paul Long Scale is one of very few Gibson guitars ever to feature a 25-1/2” scale. This move is made to accommodate the players who love the tone and power of the classic Les Paul guitar, but feel cramped with the short 24-3/4” scale. Other than that, this is a standard Gibson Custom LP. Single-cut mahogany body, set mahogany neck, Custombucker pickups and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard are all there. The MSRP is set at 4,832. For more info, head over to the CS Les Paul Long Scale detail page on our site, or on Gibson Custom official site.
Gibson Custom Collector’s Choice™ #18 1960 Les Paul Dutchburst is the third of seven LP models reviewed in this article. It is one of numerous recreations of the legendary 1960 Les Paul guitar. This time around, 1959 LP is dressed in the elegant Dutchburst dress and decorated with the finest nickel-plated hardware. One-piece mahogany body with carved maple top, V3 slim taper neck, Gibson Custom active electronics and a 22-fret Indian rosewood fingerboard comprise the key specs. The MSRP is set at $7,998. Gibson Custom Billy F. Gibbons Goldtop is one of the most popular axes with Gibson Custom badge ever and, most certainly, the most popular one not to feature the original Gibson Custom electronics. This gorgeous six-stringer is fit with Billy`s favorite Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates humbuckers in both the bridge and neck positions. Other than that, this is a classic exclusive Les Paul guitar in every respect. The MSRP is set at $5,665. For more info, head over to the Billy F. Gibbons Goldtop detail page on our site, or on Gibson Custom official site.
Gibson Custom Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Les Paul Custom is made in honor of Les Paul`s induction into the R`n`R Hall of Fame. It is a super-exclusive six-stringer with a solid, single-cut mahogany body with a carved maple top. Antique Pelham Blue color scheme is the only one. Gibson`s Custombuckers are chosen for the amplification. Set in mahogany neck is topped with a 22-fret ebony fingerboard. Only 15 of these will be made and Gibson Custom did not disclose the price to the public. For more info, head over to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Les Paul Custom detail page on our site, or on Gibson Custom official site.
Gibson Custom Collector`s Choice #17 1959 Les Paul Louis is the last LP we`ll review in this article. It is a part of the ultra exclusive Collector`s Choice range and it`s been developed, tested and perfected with the generous help of Keith Nelson of Buckcherry. Basically, this is the most accurate and precise recreation of the 1959 Les Paul. The main idea behind this one was to make a guitar which would look and sound exactly like a 1959 LP would after five and a half decades of regular play and meticulous care. The MSRP is set at $7,998. For more info, head over to the 1959 Les Paul Louis detail page on our site, or on Gibson Custom official site.
Gibson Custom L-5 Double Cut is a tribute to the archtop of all the archtops, the iconic Loar L-5 from 1922. Almost a hundred years later, Gibson Custom hopes that the L-5 Double Cut will redefine and revive the archtop market as the Lloyd Loar`s original did in 1920s. It is a super elegant double-cut guitar made of flamed maple back and sides and solid spruce sound board. Mahogany neck is set in and is topped with a 20-fret ebony (one-piece) fingerboard. Gibson`s Classic `57 humbuckers, vintage tuners and vintage ABR-1 bridge wrap up the specs list. The MSRP is set at $10,499. Gibson Custom Johnny A. Signature is the third and final signature model in the current roster.
