A Series Koa Models from Yamaha

A pair of stunning acoustic-electrics is being launched by Yamaha. They feature solid koa bodies and some of the finest appointments Yamaha has to offer.

Yamaha is one of the premier manufacturers of musical instruments, not only in Japan, but in the whole world. Their acoustic guitar department has a rock solid reputation as one of the finest nad most versatile across the industry. Catalog of acoustics and acoustic-electrics is being reinforced for 2013 with a pair of new A series guitars, A4K and AC4K. Both are acoustic-electric and will be available in very limited quantities. Most of their specs lists corresponds to A series standards, except the body tone woods. Backs, sides and top are all made of solid Hawaiian koa. Yamaha discarded all of the standard options like rosewood, maple, mahogany, cedar and spruce and went for the super luxurious top-shelf koa. Other appointments on these guitars are in accordance with A series standards.

Yamaha A4K is a dreadnought-shaped acoustic-electric guitar introduced at the 2013 NAMM show. It rocks the gorgeous all-koa body paired with a mahogany neck. Body features single-cut design and dovetail neck joint construction, classic A series appointments. It`s deep and resonant and gives magnificent tone. Elegant binding, abalone rosette and tortoise shell pickguard decorate the body. Ebony bridge is matched with a 20-fret fingerboard, also made of ebony. System 63 electronics are installed on this gorgeous flat top six-stringer and they do justice to A4K`s marvelous tone. Die-cast tuners are plated in gold on both of limited koa models. Yamaha AC4K is the concert-shaped half of this fantastic koa duo unveiled at NAMM show. Basically, it features the same specs as the A4K, but it sports a different body contour. Body is entirely made of solid Hawaiian koa and it`s paired with a mahogany neck. Besides koa and mahogany, AC4K also features ebony in it`s construction. It is used for the standard-shaped bridge and 20-fret fingerboard. Electronics department features the same System 63 SRT installation as A4K. Tuning machines are plated in gold and installed in three-a-side pattern. Standard 25-3/5" scale and gloss finish over the body and neck complete the specs list.
