Current catalog of Guild Guitars is an impressive one, containing a multitude of supremely built guitars, but Guild`s luthiers work on harder and harder to produce even better guitars. One of the finest examples of contemporary guitar luthiery is found in Guild`s brand new GSR D-40 Noir, which comes in limited numbers. This black beauty is traditionally shaped as a dreadnought, as dreadnoughts are Guild`s favorites and represent the base for their most luxurious and exclusive creations. This one is pretty exclusive with the MSRP being set close to $5,000.
Guild GSR D-40 Noir is a non-cutaway dreadnought guitar made of solid tone woods. Construction-wise, this model is an acoustic-electric guitar with red Adirondack spruce bracing. Solid mahogany is found on back and sides and solid spruce is on the top. Three piece neck is made of two pieces of mahogany and one piece of walnut. Bridge section on GSR D-40 is one of the top options Guild has to offer. It`s made up of a belly-shaped ebony bridge with bone saddle and pins. Within the bridge Guild installs a piezo pickup, which is combined with a side-mounted preamp. Hardware is plated in gold and 20-fret fingerboard is made of ebony.
