Five new models with two new shapes reinforce the Desolation lines for 2012. They were unveiled at NAMM Show this January.
Charvel is back, and it`s rockin` big time with Desolation Series 2012 updates. Besides the Singlecut, Doublecut and Skatecaster, two new shapes are being introduced, Star and Soloist. Star section got DST-1 FR, DST-1 ST and DST-3 FR 1H models. Soloist comes with DX-1 FR and DX-1 ST. 2011 models which started the Desolation story set the bar high with their four-digit quality and features wrapped in guitars which cost less then a thousand bucks. A big headache for the competition and even bigger task for later models. Star and Soloist models come with super cool shapes and transparent finishes with flamed maple tops on top FR and ST models.
Charvel DST-1 ST is the premier fixed bridge model in new Star section of Desolation series. It features a mahogany body and optional flamed maple top for transparent colors. Maple neck, which is a series standard, is equipped with modern contour and through-body joint. With the addition of EMG81/85 pickup combo, 24 jumbo frets and rock-solid tune-o-matic bridge, this star shines in it`s full glory. Charvel DST-1 FR is ST`s Floyd Rose equipped sibling. Other then bridge, these models are very similar. DST-1 FR kicks off with mahogany body and through-body maple neck. Transparent finishes feature flamed maple tops. EMG takes care of the sound and provides 81 for the bridge with 85 in the neck, a classic and deadly combo. Rosewood fingerboard has 24 jumbo frets and compound 12-16" radius, a trait shared among top Desolation models. The MSRP is set at 799.99 for black and white options and $933.32 for transparent ones. Charvel DST-3 FR 1H is the basic Star model and it comes with mahogany body in combination with bolted maple neck. This stripped down star features only one pickup, a BooHyeung passive humbucker in the bridge position. It`s controls section consists of only a master volume knob. 24 fret rosewood fingerboard also has dot inlays and 12" radius. The bridge section sports a recessed Floyd Rose double locking tremolo. Charvel DX-1 FR is the premier model of newly-established Soloist section within the Desolation series. It sports a classic double cutaway mahogany body and maple neck with through-body joint. Recessed Floyd Rose bridge is plated in nickel and paired with a timeless EMG81/85 active humbucker combo. 24 jumbo frets, abalone inlays, abalone bindings, 12-16" compound radius and 25-1/2" scale round off this model. Charvel DX-1 ST is the top Soloist model with tune-o-matic bridge and string-through-body construction. As all models marked with 1, this DX-1 has transparent finish options available with flamed maple top. This Soloist is driven by EMG 81 in the bridge and 85 in the neck position. Maple neck features through-body construction and 24 fret fingerboard. 25-1/2" scale, black nickel hardware and compound 12-16" fingerboard radius complete the specs.
