Acero series, which is Cordoba`s first attempt at the intermediate steel-string market is being reinforced with a brand new single-cut dreadnought.
Cordoba is known around the world as one of the best brands of intermediate nylon-stringed acoustics. Cordoba`s unique mixture of modern and classic construction and design has created a style which is easy to recognize and distinct among the hundreds of other brands. Completely acoustic, or acoustic-electric, Cordoba`s nylon-stringers rule the intermediate section of the market. They come in all shapes and sizes, from travel, ukulele and short-scale classics to full-sized dreads, auditoriums and concerts. For the new 2014, Cordoba is planning an expansion into the steel-string segment with the Acero series. Models of this line feature traditionally well balanced styling (successfully incorporating the vintage and modern elements of design), solid tonewoods and high quality electronics. Cordoba makes these new steel-stringers with Spanish heel joints, instead of the traditional dovetails found on the nylon-stringed models across the catalog. The most recent model and the one being reviewed in this article is the new D10-CE. This is the acoustic-electric variant of the previously introduced intermediate D10 dreadnought model. This is the sixth model in this series with more updates expected soon.
Cordoba D10-CE is a single-cut dreadnought with 19-3/4” long and 4” deep body. It is made of solid rosewood back and sides and solid spruce on the top. Rosewood and spruce guarantee a strong, responsive tone with a bit darker streak, due to the abundance of the solid rosewood used in the construction. Bridge on the top is also made of rosewood and it`s fit with a TUSQ nut. Under the hood, so to speak, Cordoba`s D10-CE features the AFS II system with a side-mounted preamp. On the top of the neck, Cordoba installs a 20-fret ebony fingerboard. For more info, check D10-CE detail page on our site, or on Cordoba`s official web page.
