C-9 and C-10 Crossover guitars are much more than upscale and hand-made classical guitars, they represent a mix made to attract the steel-string players over to the nylon-string camp.
Classical guitars with nylon strings and acoustics with steel strings have led pretty much separated lives throughout the history and their fans are pretty much divided on the subject. But, Cordoba intends to change that and bridge the gap in 2014. Their upscale Luthier series has been chosen to carry the flag of unity between classics and acoustics fans around the world. It`s new C-9 Crossover and C-10 Crossover models feature a smart mixture of standard classical design and construction and some of the characteristic steel-string appointments and construction. These crossover features include narrower string nuts and fingerboards with radius, instead of flat ones. Nylon strings, as well as classical body constructions remain.
Cordoba C-9 Crossover is a non-cutaway classical guitar with completely acoustic construction. It features solid back and sides, as well as a solid top. Back and sides are made of mahogany, while the sound board is made of Canadian cedar. Rosewood bridge and mother-of-pearl/estesso rosette are featured on the top. Mahogany neck is attached at the 12th fret with a dovetail joint and topped with a narrow ebony fingerboard. Cordoba C-10 Crossover is the second of two crossover models introduced by Cordoba for 2014. As opposed to C-9`s mahogany back and sides, C-10 comes with solid Indian rosewood back and sides, while the European spruce replaces the Canadian cedar on the top. Mahogany neck is also topped with an ebony fingerboard on this one. Bone nuts on both models are 1-7/8” wide and both have radiused fingerboards.
