Thirteen brand new acoustic and acoustic-electric guitars were unveiled at this year`s NAMM show. Also, Dean introduced three models into the Bluegrass series.
Dean Guitars had one of the biggest catalog makeovers at this year`s NAMM show in Anaheim, Ca. Their Catalog was updated with around eighty new models. Of that number, thirteen updates belong to the acoustic guitar section and three to folk instruments and Bluegrass series. St Augustine, Natural, Exhibition Ultra and AXS series were introduced for acoustic guitars. Besides them, Performer series was also updated. St Augustine Solid Top Cutaway A/E, St Augustine Solid Top Gloss Natural and St Augustine Solid Top Classic Black comprise the starting lineup of the St Augustine series. Natural series kicks off with Florentine Cutaway with Aphex, Natural Series Dreadnought with Aphex, Natural Series Dreadnought Cutaway with Aphex and Natural Series Dreadnought. Exhibition Ultra has two models: Exhibition Ultra with B-Band USB (Black) and Exhibition Ultra with B-Band USB (White). AXS Dreadnought Quilt Ash is alone in AXS series. Performer is updated with Performer Plus, Performer Ultra Quilt Ash and Performer Ultra Flame Maple. Bluegrass series has received: Bluegrass F/E Mandolin, Tennessee A/E Mandolin and Resonator Spider Quilt Maple.
Dean Performer Plus is an acoustic-electric guitar with single-cutaway design and set neck construction. Body is made of mahogany back and sides with spruce sound board on top. Rosewood is used for both the belly-contoured bridge and standard 20-fret fingerboard. Dean preamp is combined with B-Band preamp mounted on the side of the body. Dean Performer Ultra Quilt Ash is one of the most exclusive models in the Performer series. It comes with a single-cut grand auditorium body, B-Band electronics and set neck construction. Entire body is made of quilted ash and the C-contoured neck is made of mahogany. Black binding, abalone rosette and chrome-plated Grover tuners desorate this model. Dean Performer Ultra Flame Maple is one of two Performer Ultra models introduced at this year`s NAMM and it comes with a single-cut grand auditorium body made of flame maple. Other than that, it is identical to the Quilt Ash model. B-Band electronics, mahogany neck with C contour, 20-fret rosewood fingerboard and Grover tuners are featured on this model. Dean St Augustine Solid Top Cutaway A/E is an acoustic-electric guitar with single-cut dreadnought body made of mahogany and spruce. Mahogany is used for the back and sides and also for the neck. Rosewood bridge is matched with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. Combined Dean and B-Band electronics take care of amplification duties. Dean St Augustine Solid Top Gloss Natural is a fully acoustic guitar with non-cutaway dreadnought design. It comes with mahogany back and sides and spruce sound board. Set mahogany neck has C contour in the back and 20-fret rosewood fingerboard on top. 25-1/4" scale, die-cast tuners and 1-5/8" nut complete the specs list. Dean St Augustine Solid Top Black is pretty much the same guitar as the dread reviewed in the above paragraph, except that it comes in black color. Non-cutaway dread is fully acoustic and made of mahogany/spruce combination. Mahogany neck is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. Dean Natural Series Florentine Cutaway is an acoustic-electric guitar with single-cut design, high quality electronics and very elegant decorations. Also, it sounds magnificent. Dean Natural Series Dreadnought with Aphex features the standard Natural series construction. It is made of rosewood back and sides with spruce sound board. Dean Natural Series Dreadnought Cutaway with Aphex is a single-cut variant of the previously reviewed Natural series dreadnought model. The only difference is that this one has the cutaway. Dean Exhibition Ultra with B-Band USB (Black) is equipped with Florentine cutaway and set neck construction. It`s body is made of mahogany and is paired with a mahogany neck. B-Band electronics are installed on this model. Ebony is used for both the bridge and 21-fret fingerboard. 25-1/4" scale, Grover tuners and glossy black finish wrap the specs. Dean Exhibition Ultra with B-Band USB (White) is the white-clad variant of the previous Exhibition Ultra model. Mahogany dominates the construction of this model, as it is found on top, back, sides and the neck. B-Band electronics are in charge of amplification tasks. Dean Bluegrass F/E Mandolin is one of two acoustic-electric mandolins Dean introduced at this year`s NAMM show. This one comes with an F-shaped body with vintage styling and decorations. TC30 piezo pickup and side-mounted preamp comprise the electronics deparrment of this model. Body is made of maple baack and sides with spruce sound board. Dean Tennessee A/E Mandolin is the second acoustic-electric mandolin model introduced by Dean. It comes with A-styled body. It`s painted black and it`s equipped with a set in maple neck. Dean Resonator Spider Quilt Maple is the only resonator guitar Dean introduced at this year`s NAMM show. It comes with a spider-shaped non-cutaway body made entirely of quilted maple. On it`s top, there`s a chrome-plated resonator cone with the bridge section installed on it. Neck is made of mahogany. It`s set in and C contoured. rosewood fingerboard has 19 frets.
