Lead by the beautiful Deluxe model, Dean`s Thoroughbred series makes debut. Solid-bodied LP-like guitars take on the sub-grand section of the market.
Dean Guitars have a long tradition of making high quality electric guitars, both luxurious and affordable. Since 1976 and their first series of solid-bodied guitars, it was clear that word Dean means serious business. That is the case today, when Dean Guitars release their latest effort, the Thoroughbred series of single-cut guitars. This series is made to offer excellent quality to players who can`t afford a luxurious guitar. Some of the common series traits include abundant use of mahogany and set-in neck joints, which guarantees powerful tone and loads of sustain. Also, both models have Dean`s own DMT pickups. Names of the models are: Thoroughbred Deluxe, as the series` flagship and Thoroughbred Maple Top, as the basic model.
Dean Thoroughbred Deluxe is a solid single-cut guitar made of mahogany base and flamed maple top. Top panel is beautifully carved and bound in creme binding. Elegance of this model is underlined with Scary Cherry color scheme with high gloss finish. Set neck is also made of mahogany and it comes with a popular "C" contour in the back. On top of the neck, Dean installs an ebony fingerboard with 22 frets. Classic feature for that fat and lively tone. Pickups are Dean DMT passive humbuckers with split volume and tone knobs. All this is packed in compact 24-3/4 inches of scale. The MSRP is set at $972 For more info check Thoroughbred Deluxe detail page on our site or on Dean Guitars official web page.
Dean Thoroughbred Maple Top is the base model of this series and it is a single-cut solid guitar, like the Deluxe model. Differences are few between these two, for the Maple Top model plays the entry role in this series. Mahogany base of the body is covered with a plain maple cap, instead of a flamed one. Carving and binding are the same as on the Deluxe. Bridge section features chrome plated tune-o-matic with stoptail bar. Pickups installed on this model include Dean DMT "Equalizer" in the bridge and "Nostalgia" in the neck position. Split volume and tone controls and three-way toggle pickup switch complete the controls unit. Mahogany neck is topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. MSRP for this one is set at $800.
