Both models look towards the future with technology they are made with, since Paul Kossoff 1959 Les Paul Standard was reconstructed using latest technology and measurement tools to muster the most precise replication achievable today. On the other side, Les Paul Custom Rosewood Maduro brings modern options for classical appointments. It`s fingerboard is made of rosewood, instead of traditional ebony. But, the aesthetic standard is preserved as two layers of this dark wood are remarkably similar to ebony both with looks and feel.
Gibson Custom Paul Kossoff 1959 Les Paul Standard is the closest possible replica of Paul`s original Les Paul. Gibson`s craftsmen traveled to UK to examine and measure the original, and the result is qute remarkable. Mahogany body is covered with figured maple cap, and offers in aged and VOS green lemon options. Add tune-o-matic bridge, mahogany neck and 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, and the essentials are there. But, the gems are hidden under pickup covers, as they replicate the ones on Pauls guitar with complete accuracy. Green Lemon Aged costs $15,292 and Green Lemon VOS costs $10,351. Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom Rosewood Maduro is a model faced with multiple tasks, it has to deliver the classic "black tie" looks and performance, whili still having enough appeal to draw players of today. And, if that wasn`t enough of a challenge, problems with world supply of ebony occurred, and rosewood came to the rescue. This model is offered in Dark Brown Gloss and Dark Brown VOS. Gloss variant is flashier, it has golden hardware, elevated pickguard and modern 490R/498T humbucker combo. On the other side, VOS variant is made for players who like their LP a little more traditional, and it sports vintage-styled '57 Classic humbuckers, no pickguard and nickel plated hardware. Other than that, mahogany body with maple top, mahogany neck, 22 fret rosewood and Grover tuners are common features. The MSRP is set uniformly at $5,738.
