Ibanez is a brand with great tradition and almost unparalleled versatility in it`s catalog. Every update, therefore must be well thought through worked on and made to enrich it`s series and elevate the general level of quality throughout the catalog. A task that is both challenging and joyous. This time, Ibanez introduces eight new instruments. There are solid bodied electric guitars, semi-hollow, fully hollow electrics, electric basses and acoustic-electric guitars. Only solid bodied electric guitars have four slots and all other mentioned categories have one. JCRG20127, AR325, AR420 and S421 are solid bodied electric guitars. IJXB150B is solid bodied bass pack for beginners. Talman TCY74OPN is a double cut acoustic-electric, AFJ85L is hollow-bodied jazz guitar and AS53L is semi-hollow bodied guitar.
Ibanez JCRG20127 is the same model as JCRG20126, except it has seven strings, instead of six. Other than that and string-count related features, everything is the same. This is a solid bodied RG made in Japan and it comes with mahogany body with flamed maple top. Black opal and Brown Garnet Shadow options are available, both finished in gloss. Ibanez installs second generation of their famous Edge Zero bridge with double locking system. DiMarzio supplies the pickups and it`s PAF-7 humbuckers in both the bridge and neck. Volume, tone and five-position blade switch with coil splitting function comprise controls. Five-piece maple/wenge neck is bolted and topped with 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. Ibanez AR325 is a model from Artist series, the AR sub-division and it is second of four solid bodied electrics in this update. Distinguished and elegant design of this model is accompanied by gold plated hardware, abalone and pearl inlays and beautiful finish over both the Dark Brown Burst and Transparent Red color options. Solid, double cut and equipped with a pair of active humbuckers, AR325 is made to be a show-stopper. ART bridge with decorative tailpiece, tuning machines and pickup covers are plated in gold. Body is made of mahogany back and figured bubinga top. Creme binding decorates the top. Neck is made of three pieces of maple, it`s set and topped with 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Ibanez AR420 is a novelty from the AR division of the Artist series of electric guitars. It comes with a double cut body made of mahogany base with flamed maple top. Abalone binding and elegant finish over Violin Sunburst color are matched with gold plating over ART bridge and covers of Super 58 Custom active humbuckers. Pickups have split volume nad tone controls and three-position mini-switches for coil splitting. Three-way toggle pickup switch is used for selecting the pickups. Neck is made of three pieces of maple, set-in, equipped with AR contour and topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, this neck is one of the finest in Ibanez production. Ibanez S421 is an update for the regular, basic S series of solid-bodied electric guitars with carved tops and bolted necks. Double cut body is made of mahogany and paired with a bolt-on, three-piece maple neck. Bridge is a Gibraltar Standard with string-through construction and black paint. Pickups are made by Ibanez and come in H/H configuration. Infinity 2 is in the bridge and Infinity 1 in the neck. Five-position blade switch splits the coils in position four. Three-piece neck is equipped with Wizard contour and it`s topped with a fingerboard made of rosewood. 24 jumbo frets, custom 12th fret inlay, 15.75" radius and 1.69" wide string nut complete the fingerboard. Ibanez IJXB150B is the name of Ibanez Jumpstart electric bass pack. Within this pack, player gets all the necessary things for a successful start. Amp, strap, picks, cables, instruction al DVD, tuner and of course, the bass guitar. Bass is a solid-bodied, double-cut four-stringer made of basswood body and maple neck. Neck is bolted, of course. Bridge section has a B10 bass bridge with four saddles. J/P configuration of Ibanez pickups is controlled through volume and tone pots. Ibanez TCY47OPN is one of the most recognizable string instruments in history of Ibanez. It is a double-cut acoustic-electric guitar with open pore finish and Fishman electronics. Sonicore pickup and Sonitone preamp comprise the electronics department on this extraordinary guitar. Entire body is made of mahogany and it`s combined with mahogany neck, which is attached to the body with a standard 14th fret joint. Top panel of the body is equipped with white binding and marquetry rosette around oval rosette. Mahogany neck has a standard contour and it`s topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. Ibanez AFJ85L is a fully hollow-bodied jazz guitar with classic single-cut design and set neck construction. It comes with flamed maple back and sides and spruce sound board on top. This model has vintage styling and vintage tone. Top panel is equipped with white binding, "f" holes and elevated pickguard. Bridge section is also a vintage one, as it features a rosewood bridge with trapezoid tailpiece. Both are plated in gold. Pickups on this one are active humbuckers, in both bridge and neck positions. Split volume and tone control knobs are accompanied by a three-way toggle pickup switch. Neck is made of three pieces of mahogany and maple and it is set-in. Ibanez AS53L is the eighth, final model in this review and it is the only semi-hollow guitar among the eight novelties unveiled by Ibanez. It comes with a double cutaway body made of sapele. Back, sides and top are all made of sapele and combined with a mahogany neck. Bridge section on this model is made up of tune-o-matic bridge in the front and stoptail bar in the back. Both are plated in chrome. Pickups are made by Ibanez and ACH-ST humbuckers are placed in both the bridge and neck positions.
