Positions two to four retain great deal of clarity while still changing the tone. Positions five and six turn the pickups into single coils, but without the quack these pickups are known for. All in all six positioons of the Varitone system and three positions of the pickup switch combined with separate volume and tone control knobs give unlimited tonal shaping possibilities.
