The future is here, now. Roland nad Fender bring it, it has a Stratocaster shape and is called V guitar.
Fender and Roland join forces to bring new generation of guitars with brand new VG Stratocaster G-5 and GK-Ready Stratocaster GC-1. These guitars started out as electrics, but now they are electronic guitars. In a nutshell, these are classic Strats with Roland on-board electronics and sound-modeling software. These guitars can be used as ordinary electric guitars, without ever using the built in options, or player can explore worlds of electric, acoustic, classical and sitar through Roland software. Both of these Strats have standard S/S/S pickup configuration, but, between the bridge and bridge pickup, there is Roland GK divided pickup with six separate humbuckers, one for each string. Through V-Guitar software, player can choose from alternate pickup setups, string tunings, effects and instruments at the touch of a button.
Master volume, and now master tone are accompanied by two more special knobs through which player can select tuning and instrument he or she wants to play. Master tone also serves as reverb control when acoustic guitar mode is on. Pickup switch can dial in full humbucker tone in positions one and five. These regular Strats with mind bending tone modeling possibilities make the future come today. For more info check Fender and Roland official web pages.
