Fender Expands the Vintage Hot Rod Line

Fender adds six models to the popular and critically acclaimed Vintage Hot Rod series. Four guitars and two basses are added.

Vintage Hot Rod is a relatively young and recent addition to the Fender catalog and it`s job is relatively similar to the rest of the vintage-styled series which are spiced up with modern appointments. Vintage Hot Rod models have spicier pickups and offer stronger and more modern tone than similar models from other series. Thus far, Vintage Hot Rod series only had three models. For the fall of 2013, Fender expands it with six new models, four solid bodied six-string guitars and two solid-bodied four-stringed basses. Guitar models are Vintage Hot Rod `50s Stratocaster, Vintage Hot Rod `60s Stratocaster, Vintage Hot Rod `50s Telecaster and Vintage Hot Rod `60s Telecaster. Bass models are Vintage Hot Rod `60s Precision Bass and Vintage Hot Rod `70s Jazz Bass.

Fender Vintage Hot Rod `50s Stratocaster is the first of four six-stringed models added to the Vintage Hot Rod series for the fall of 2013. It features the solid and double-cut ash body with period-correct features. Vintage tremolo bridge is fronted with three single-coil pickups. S-1 switch is added to the master volume knob. Fender Vintage Hot Rod `50s Telecaster is one of two Tele models introduced this time into the popular and acclaimed Vintage Hot Rod series. It comes with a solid and single-cut ash body, bolted maple neck with D contour and two pickups. Single coil in the bridge is paired with a Wide Range humbucker in the neck. Fender Vintage Hot Rod `60s Stratocaster is the second Strat model reviewed in this article. As opposed to the ash body on the `50s Strat, this one has an alder body. Vintage tremolo bridge and three single-coil pickups with S-1 switch are installed on the top. Maple neck is bolted to the body and topped with a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard. Fender Vintage Hot Rod `60s Stratocaster

Fender Vintage Hot Rod `60s Telecaster is solid, single-cut guitar with alder body and maple neck. Some of the traditional features include 25-1/2” scale, vintage tuners, Tele bridge and traditional bolt-on neck joint. Three single-coil pickups (Strat configuration) with master volume, master tone and five-position blade switch are installed on the top. Maple neck features 21-fret rosewood fingerboard on the top. Fender Vintage Hot Rod `60s Precision Bass is one of two bass models introduced into the Vintage Hot Rod series this time. It comes with a solid, double-cut ash body and bolted maple neck. Hardtail bridge with chrome plating and J/P set of passive pickups are featured on the top. 20-fret fingerboard is made of rosewood. Fender Vintage Hot Rod `70s Jazz Bass is the second bass and the last, sixth model reviewed in this text. Solid and double-cut body of this four-stringer is made of alder, while the bolted neck is made of maple. 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood, 34” scale, J/P set of pickups and hardtail bridge complete the specs list.
