An interesting fusion of a mandolin and solid-bodied electric guitar from Fender is being introduced just in time for this year`s NAMM.
Fresh for 2013 NAMM Fender is unveiling new web site and new lineup of products for 2013. All corners of the catalog are being updated big time with numerous novelties and overhauls. One of the segments of catalog that has not been so active lately is the Folk series. This time around Fender does this series justice and reinforces it`s ranks with a revival of an old concept from 1950s. Name of this concept is electric mandolin. It comes with a solid body and electronics made after the famous Stratocaster guitar. But, on the other side, it has retained a mandolin scale length and 24-fret fingerboard. It`s name is Mando Strat and it`s made for every player out there who would like to spice up their repertoire with some overdrive. This Mando Strat not only looks and plays great, it costs next to nothing. Fender has set the MSRP at around $350.
Fender Mando Strat is a solid-bodied electric guitar with mandolin-sized body and scale. It features Strat-like double cutaway and mandolin waist and bottom. Alder is used for the body and it`s paired with a maple neck. These two tone woods form one of the most famous pairs in the industry, appearing together on countless models for over five decades. Body of this Mando Strat is flat and covered with a tortoise pickguard. Maple neck is equipped with a standard C contour and it`s topped with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. Standard mandolin scale of 13.78", chrome hardware and a Fender single coil pickup in bridge position wrap the specs list.
