New four-model series is introduced into the acoustic department of the Fender Custom Shop catalog. Class, style and prestige are the words to describe the series.
Fender`s Custom Shop is brand`s premier division and it`s in business since 1987. For NAMM 2013 Fender introduces acoustic section of the Custom Shop and it features two series, Collector`s Custom and Pro Custom. Collector`s Custom is equipped with five models, which feature custom graphics painted by professional air brush artists. On the other side, Pro Custom series is made up of four models, two dreads, one auditorium and one newporter. These four are made for players who like more traditional approach to the guitar design. Even though they cost significantly less than models from the Collector`s Custom line, they offer the same level of quality and playability. These four flat tops are all acoustic-electric and are made of top shelf materials available to Custom Shop luthiers. Models introduced are Kingman C Antigua Burst, Kingman C, Classic Koa Auditorium Cutaway and Newporter. Prices range from $2,600 to $3,900.
Fender Pro Custom Kingman C Antigua Sunburst is one of two dreadnoughts introduced into the Pro Custom series . Both are based upon previously released Kingman C dreadnoughts. This one features historical Antigua Burst color scheme from the 1960s. Body is made of mahogany back and sides with solid spruce sound board. Rosewood is used for the bridge and 20-fret fingerboard. Electronics on this model are supplied by Fishman. Precisely, Matrix Infinity pickup system is installed inside the body. Maple neck on this model features C contour and dovetail joint. Fender Pro Custom Kingman C is the second dreadnought guitar from the Pro Custom series and it is very similar to the previously mentioned Kingman with Antigua Burst. This one costs $2,660 and is the most affordable model within the ranks of Pro Custom series. It comes with mahogany back and sides and spruce sound board on top. Bridge is made of rosewood and sports bone saddle. Fishman electronics are standard for this series and Kingman C is no exception. Maple neck is topped with a 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. Fender Pro Custom Newporter is the only newporter model in this series and one of three produced by the Custom Shop. Other two can be found in Collector`s Custom series. Anyway, this Pro Custom Newporter is a full-sized and full-scaled guitar with non-cutaway design. It is the only model in the series with body made entirely of mahogany. It is available only in natural gloss color scheme and features a set of very elegant decorations. Maple neck is topped with a standard 20-fret rosewood fingerboard. MSRP is set at $3,100. Fender Pro Custom Classic Koa Auditorium Cutaway is the king of the hill in Pro Custom series. It`s body is made completely of solid, top grade Hawaiian koa and paired with a mahogany neck with soft V contour. This combination guarantees supreme tone, but it also builds the price to the Pro Custom series top, $3,890. Mahogany neck on this model is topped with a 20-fret ebony fingerboard. The bridge is also made of ebony. Both the string nut and bridge saddle are made of bone. Gold-plated hardware and 25-5/8" scale complete the specs list.
