Two standard guitars, one baritone guitar and one short-scale bass are refreshing and reinforcing the lines of the Pawn Shop series for 2013.
Fender`s Pwn Shop series has a very interesting motto: Guitars that never were, but should have been. Instead of making replicas and tributes to the most popular models in Fender history, this series deals with vintage-styled guitars which look as if they were made in '60s and '70s, but actually, were not. However, a part of this series is dedicated to the actual guitars and basses which were produced, but are now rare and seldom seen. Four models are being introduced for 2013: Pawn Shop Stratocaster Deluxe, Pawn Shop Bass VI, Pawn Shop Mustang Bass and Pawn Shop Super-Sonic. These four models have three different scale lengths. Super-Sonic is equipped with the shortest standard scale in Fender catalog, which measures 24 inches. Strat has it`s traditional 25-1/2" and Bass Vi and Mustang Bass have 30" scales.
Fender Pawn Shop Mustang Bass is a short-scale bass with a solid alder body. It features a classic Mustang body made of alder. It is paired with a bolt-on maple neck. Scale measures only 30" on this model, but the humbucker pickup in the middle position makes sure this mustang delivers a punch equally strong as it`s 34"-scaled siblings have. This one`s a four-stringer with 19-fret fingerboard made of rosewood. Also, it features a fixed bridge with string-through contour. Olympic White and Candy Apple Red color schemes have "Go Faster" stripes. Vintage-styled tuners are made by Fender and plated in chrome. Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI is a six-stringer with 30" baritone scale. Even though it`s named Bass VI, it is actually a guitar with an elongated scale. It has a solid, double-cut Jazzmaster body and a number of distinctive Jazzmaster features. Bridge section is a classic two-piece from Jazzmaster line. Pickups come in H/S/S configuration with master volume, master tone and a five-position blade switch. Neck on this model is made of maple, it features standard C contour and it`s topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Fender Pawn Shop Stratocaster Deluxe is the third of four models represented in this article and it is equipped with a masterful fusion of Strat and Tele appointments. It has an alder-made Strat body, but many of the features around and on it are taken from the 1970s Telecaster models. Vintage-styled pickguard and neck position single coil pickup are most obvious fusion signs. Hardtail bridge is equipped with string-through construction and nickel/chrome plating. 22-fret fingerboard is made of maple and it`s installed upon the C-contoured maple neck. Fender Pawn Shop Super-Sonic is a replica of an actual model. It was produced in the late 1990s as Squier Super Sonic and it was a quite popular short-scale guitar. Current Pawn Shop incarnation retains the 24" scale and a reversed Jazzmaster body. Also, the headstock is reversed. Dual humbucker combo in the pickups section features zebra coils and two volume knobs. There are no tone knobs for these pickups. Neck is made of maple, it`s bolted to the body and it`s topped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
