Fender Unveils CD-60 Mahogany

Fender`s Classic Design series of acoustic guitars is being reinforced with a fantastic new CD-60, an all-mahogany guitar.

Mahogany is probably the most popular tone wood when it comes to steel-stringed acoustics. It offers big tone, dominant low end and it`s quite a bit mellower than spruce or maple. For these reasons mahogany is combined with them to produce sharp and bright tone everyone thinks of when steel-stringed acoustics are mentioned. On it`s own, mahogany has softer, mellower voice, giving the guitar a unique voice. It`s why mahogany is number one wood for one-tone-wood acoustic guitars. Fender updates the Classic Design Series with a brand new CD-60 Mahogany, an all-mahogany dreadnought steel-stringer. Not only that it sounds great, it feels great and looks even better. Therefore Fender decided to keep this one in natural color of the wood with glossy finish over it.

Fender CD-60 Mahogany is a non-cutaway dreadnought guitar with fully acoustic construction and it comes with a body made entirely of mahogany. This body is then paired with a mahogany neck. Body of this model is equipped with scalloped X bracing, which helps tone reverberate and project in much more efficient way. Naturally colored, this model is finished in high gloss, leaving beautiful grain of mahogany uncovered. Bridge and fingerboard are usually made of same type of wood for better tone and Fender`s luthiers decided to go with rosewood combo on this one. Rosewood bridge is equipped with a compensated synthetic bone saddle and standard belly contour, while on the other side fingerboard is equipped with 20 frets with dot inlays. Hardware is plated in chrome and scale measures 25.3" in length. For more info check CD-60 Mahogany detail page on our site or on Fender official web page.
