Fender Updates the Select Series

Fender introduces five electric guitars nad one electric bass into the exclusive Select series for the 2013 edition of the catalog.

Fender, as one of the premier brands of electric guitars, has constantly to prove and reinforce their position with better and better models, for the competition is fierce and unforgiving. For 2013 Fender catalog is being updated with many models, electric guitars, electric basses, acoustics, all segments of the catalog are being treated with novelties. This time, the all the spotlights are set on the Select series, one of the finest lines in the catalog. It is being updated with six models, five guitars and one bass. Guitars are: Carved Maple Top Jazzmaster, Stratocaster HSS, Telecaster HH, Carved Top Telecaster SH and Telecaster Thinline. The only bass is Active Jazz Bass. All of these models feature luxurious top covers, premium hardware and top shelf tone woods. Also, Select and Wide Range series pickups are used for these models.

Fender 2013 Select Carved Maple Top Jazzmaster opens up the review section of this text and it comes with a standard Jazzmaster contours, but now made of supreme tone woods. Body is made of chambered alder base and carved flame maple top. Top is bound in creme binding and finished in high gloss. Rest of the body is also finished in gloss. Cayenne Burst and Twilight Burst color schemes grace this gorgeous six-stringer. Wide range humbuckers are paired with a basic controls unit and the bridge section features an adjust-o-matic bridge with stoptail bar in the back. Maple neck is bolted, equipped with modern C contour in the back and topped with a 21-fret fingerboard. Part of the Select treatment is also the compound 9.5"-14" radius. Fender 2013 Select Stratocaster HSS is the only Strat among these six updates and it brings the humbucker pickup in the bridge position, with singles in the middle and neck positions. Standard controls setup accompanies them. Tremolo bridge is synchronized and equipped with string-through construction. Alder body has modern contours and it is topped with flamed maple cap. High gloss finish is applied over the beautiful Tobacco Burst color scheme. Maple neck has modern C contour and four-bolt joint. Price tag for this one is set at $2,999.99. Fender 2013 Select Telecaster HH is the first of three  Telecaster updates for this year`s edition of the Select series. It comes with a chambered alder body with Malaysian blackwood top. This Select Telecaster is equipped with a pair of powerful Wide Range humbuckers, which are controlled through the standard Telecaster set of knobs and switches. Hardtail bridge is also the part of the Select treatment this model received. Chrome is applied on all parts of hardware, tuners, pickup covers, knobs and the bridge. Fender 2013 Select Carved Top Telecaster SH comes with a stunning blackwood top installed over the chambered alder body. Body is made with a classic contour and it`s paired with a maple neck. Top panel is bound in several layers of binding and finished in high gloss. Black Cherry Burst is the only color scheme for this model. It features a modern variant of the Tele bridge with strings running through the body. Single coil pickup in the bridge position is followed by a Wide Range humbucker in the neck position. Fender 2013 Select Telecaster Thinline is one of the most exclusive semi-hollow bodied guitars on the market. It comes with a semi-hollow ash body with flamed maple top. It is available in Violin Burst with high gloss finish. Two single coil pickups are installed on this model and they feature standard Telecaster controls unit. Pickguard is the one from the 1972 models. Bridge is a modern variant of the Tele bridge and it`s matched with a set of six in-line tuners on the headstock. Maple neck has standard C contour, compound radius and a 22-fret maple fingerboard. It costs $2,999.99. Fender 2013 Select Active Jazz Bass is the active variant of the passive model from 2012. It comes with a solid alder body with flamed maple cap on the top. Top panel is covered with a classic Jazz Bass pickguard and finished in high gloss. Bridge is a high mass vintage bridge with either a top-load, or string-through construction. A pair of single coil pickups is installed in the front and they feature a customized controls unit. Neck is a standard one, it is made of maple and it`s equipped with modern C contour.
