UK based manufacturer Fret King has added the fourth line of models to it`s catalog, the Black Label with ten guitars and two basses.
Fret King hails from United Kingdom and represents a force to be reckoned with in the guitar industry. Up until 2012, their catalog consisted of Blue Label, Green Label and Stvdio Series. These high-end models were doing a great job on their own, but 2012 brought them a performance-oriented and budget-friendly sibling in shape of black Label Series. Currently, it consists of twelve models, of which ten are electric guitars, and two are electric basses. Eclat DBC, Elise GG, JD, Corona GW, Country Squire Deluxe, Country Squire Semitone, Eclat Standard, Elise, Corona SP and Super Hybrid are names of guitars. Perception 4 and Perception 5 are Black Label basses.
Fret King Black Label Eclat DBC is a signature model for Dave 'Bucket' Colwel, and it comes with only one P-90 bridge pickup on a solid, single cutaway mahogany body with Les Paul-like shape. Being a down-to-business guitar, this axe features no top woods or bindings. Neck is, like the body, made of mahogany It is topped with 22 fret rosewood fingerboard. Second in line of Black Label signature models is Elise GG, which is made for Gordon Giltrap, one of rock scene veterans. It is a semi-hollow bodied guitar made of chambered mahogany back and solid flamed maple top. Neck is also made of mahogany and features a 22 medium jumbo fret fingerboard made of rosewood. All hardware, including the bridge, bridge humbucker, neck P-90 pickup and tuners are made by Wilkinson. This double cutaway has a 24-3/4" scale and 12" fingerboard radius. Jerry Donahue is the third signature artist in Black Label lineup. His model is called Fret-King JD and it is a Telecaster-reminiscent single cutaway guitar. It`s body is made of two pieces of solid alder with bound ash top. Neck is made of Canadian hard rock maple and equipped with a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard. 'Tray' bridge, slanted single coil in the bridge position, regular single coil in the neck and tuners are provided by Wilkinson. The MSRP is set somewhere around $950. Fourth and final signature artist with a Black Label series model is Geoff Whitehorn with a Corona GW model. The guitar is made in Strat fashion and boasts a solid, double cutaway body made of two pieces of alder. There are no top woods or bindings on this mean machine. Neck is, as on all solid double cutaway models from Black Label, made of Canadian hard rock maple. Wilkinson H/S/S pickup configuration is complemented with 22 medium jumbo fret rosewood fingerboard. Fret King Black Label Country Squire Deluxe is a Telecaster-like model with a strong vintage vibe. flat, solid, single cutaway body is made of alder and combined with a hard rock maple neck. Upon the neck, there is a 22 fret fingerboard made of rosewood. It also features dot inlays, 10" radius and graphite string nut. Wilkinson took care of the entire hardware package, along with a slanted single coil in the bridge and a full humbucker pickup in neck position. The MSRP is set around $900. Here is Deluxe`s semi-acoustic sibling, the Black Label Country Squire Semitone. It comes with a chambered two-piece alder body and Canadian hard rock maple neck. The body features tortoise binding and an "f" hole on the bass side of the Wilkinson three-saddle bridge. Wilkinson provided both the bridge and neck humbuckers and tuners. Fret King Black Label Eclat Standard is a single cutaway model with a short 24-3/4" scale and solid mahogany body with carved top. Due to no frills policy, this model is equipped only with bare necessities. Again, Wilkinson provides the hardware, including the dual humbucker combo and tuners. Eclat Standard also features Fret King`s own coil splitting Vari-Coil control knob. Mahogany neck is paired with a rosewood fingerboard which sports 22 medium jumbo frets with trapezoid inlays. Fret King Black Label Corona SP is a Strat-like model of the line and it comes with a solid double cutaway alder body and hard rock maple neck. Te body features a flat top and a stylish pickguard. Pickup combo is an enhanced variant of Strat`s S/S/S configuration. All three pickups are Wilkinson single coils, with the bridge one being a P-90. The fingerboard on Corona SP is made of rosewood and is equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets with dot position inlays. Addition of Wilkinson bridge and tuners concludes the specs list. Fret King Black Label Super Hybrid is the mos extreme axe in the series lineup, as it is a full blown shredder guitar. Solid alder body is flat and paired with maple neck. Pickup combo is supplied by Wilkinson and it includes humbuckers in the bridge and neck with a single coil in between them. Controls include push-pull control for coil splitting. Other major features on this guitar include fixed Wilkinson bridge and 24 medium jumbo frets on a rosewood fingerboard. 25-1/2" scale tightens the tone and Wilkinson tuners keep the strings in tone no matter what the player throws at them. Fret King Black Label Perception 4 is the first of two Black Label basses. At first glance, this bass reminds of a smooth combination of Precision and Jazz bass contours. It`s offset-waist body is made of alder and paired with a hard rock maple neck. pickup combo is configured in a J/P pattern and made by Wilkinson. Volume and tone control knobs accompany these passive pickups. The fingerboard is made of rosewood and equipped with 22 medium jumbo frets and dot position inlays. Fret King Black Label Perception 5 is an extended range variant of the Perception four. These two share a majority of features and have the same looks. solid alder body features a double cutaway and a flat top with no binding. J/P passive pickup combo is made by Wilkinson, as well as the rest of the hardware.
